Jeffrey B. Gittleman, a partner in Barrack, Rodos & Bacine, joined the firm in 1998. Mr. Gittleman concentrates his practice on complex litigation, with an emphasis on antitrust and securities litigation.

For more than 20 years, Mr. Gittleman has litigated complex class actions recovering billions of dollars for investors, businesses and individuals injured by violations of securities, antitrust and consumer protection laws.  Mr. Gittleman regularly advises institutional investors, including international, state, county, municipal and Taft-Hartley pension funds, regarding domestic and international securities litigation.  Using the firm’s patented BEAMS® securities portfolio monitoring platform, Mr. Gittleman assists institutional investors in maximizing their recoveries from securities fraud cases filed throughout the world.  He regularly consults with institutional investors providing advice on whether and when to take an active role in securities fraud litigation.  Mr. Gittleman has deep experience litigating securities fraud cases.  Representing state, county, municipal and Taft-Hartley funds, he has served as a principal member of the firm’s teams litigating some of the largest and most successful securities fraud class actions.  Mr. Gittleman currently represents a number of domestic and international institutional investors in securities fraud class actions pending across the country.

In 2018, Mr. Gittleman served as trial counsel for a class of bondholders in Becker v. BNY Mellon in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  Mr. Gittleman was added to the trial team less than two months before the trial started, and helped secure a settlement of $13.5 million hours before closing arguments were set to begin.  Mr. Gittleman previously served as trial counsel for Iridian Technologies, Inc. and its common shareholder-elected directors in Equity Asset Investment Trust, Inc. v. John Daugman, et al., in a case tried in Delaware Chancery Court.  The case was litigated on an expedited basis under the Chancery Court’s “fast track” procedures, and went to trial two months after the complaint was filed.

Mr. Gittleman also has an active antitrust practice representing small businesses, health and welfare funds, and individuals injured by anti-competitive conduct.  He is currently playing an important role in Generic Pharmaceuticals Pricing Antitrust Litigation seeking damages on behalf of those injured by a price-fixing conspiracy among the largest manufacturers of generic pharmaceuticals.  In addition, Mr. Gittleman is currently litigating antitrust class actions alleging anti-competitive conduct with respect to Mexican Government Bonds and interior molded doors.  Previously, Mr. Gittleman served in leadership roles in numerous multi-district antitrust class actions, helping to secure multi-million dollar recoveries against manufacturers of urethanes, steel, lithium ion batteries, carbon fiber, automotive refinishing paint, graphite electrodes, flat class and other products.  In 2017, Mr. Gittleman presented a continuing legal education course in Philadelphia titled Navigating the Antitrust Cartel Labyrinth.
